Works ok but why the big bias towards Fahrenheit? People here should be used to Celsius by now, it's been the dominant unit in weather forecasting for well over 30 years, most fridges and temperature control systems are calibrated in Celsius too. there's really no excuse for sticking with an old fashioned German invention, that even Germany itself has moved on from.

I am not sure what one can really say about this device, except that it does exactly what it claims; it measures the temperature in your fridge and freezer. The one that I have appears to read one or two degrees higher than our previous thermometer - but whats that between friends; whose to say that the other thermometer reads one or two degrees lower than this one. One of the most disappointing items I've ever purchased in my entire life of 40 years. It doesn't give accurate reading of temperature, says my fridge is too warm but got manufacturers engineer out and fridge is working fine. I bought the product because of frozen milk but I'd used my aunts recommendation when adjusting thermostat and her fridge is different. This product is supposed to help so that your fridge is not a setting where bacteria in food can multiply to dangerous levels. Words alone can't explain my annoyance at myself for buying this so called gadget

Bought one for freezer to keep a check on temps - works a treat, so much so have bought one for fridge too, will never be too hot or too cold again. Bargain buys!

Tala is a British brand that has been around since 1899; it is now part of Suffolk based George East Housewares who still make some of their products in the UK. This fridge/freezer thermometer is made in China, however, but is good value at the price and is one of a comprehensive range of products. It is suitable for both fridge and freezer use and can be hung or stood on a shelf. Reasonably accurate - mine under-registered by one degree C - it will make sure you food is kept at safe temperatures whether in the fridge or freezer. Nicely finished in easy to keep clean stainless steel this thermometer is a good investment in safety at under a fiver.

I've now bought 2 of these. 1 for home and 1 for my flat while away working. Both do a simple and great job keeping an eye on the fridge temperature.

It lets you know what the temp is doing inside your freezer without opening the door. (Handy during power cuts)

Everything about this unit seems to be high quality. It is accurate, has a very useful minimum and maximum temperature recording facility, and so on. However, it is so fast to respond to changes in temperature, that it picks up a significant momentary rise when you open the freezer. This leaves the maximum temperature reading as the momentary high when the lid was open, so you don't know what the normal high was with the lid shut. Also, the cable that goes from the unit to the temperature probe is quite thick, which I am not sure is completely smothered by the rubber seal on the door. A flat cable would be a better option. Would I buy the same unit again? No - I would look for something else, but this is just about good enough not to throw away.

This product is probably very good in many ways, but for freezers you need to have the display outside and put the probe in past the door seal. If you put it inside the freezer it goes blank. I bought this item because I had just had a freezer failure and liked the idea of the alarm, but the engineer who came out for the failure emphasised that NOTHING must disturb the door seal if the fridge or freezer are to work correctly. For the purpose for which I bought it, therefore, this item was useless.

We needed some thermometers for our laboratory freezers which contain hundreds of pounds worth of reagents and biological samples representing many hours of work; these cost about 10 quid so they are a good investment. This thermometer allows you to set a max and min temperature. The alarm is very audible and rings intermittently when the temperature is outside the set range. It took a few minutes to adjust to our freezer so it was good that it wasn't ringing constantly during this process. You can press a button and find out the highest and lowest the temperature has been, and this function can be reset. The length of the cord from the probe to the display unit is about a metre. The display unit can be placed in several ways all of which are included - self adhesive velcro strips, a little screw on bracket or a flip out stand. The numbers on the display are quite large and there is also a little light which is handy. It can be set to display the temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit. Assuming this gadget keeps doing it's job, I would definitely recommend it as it does what it needs to, looks good and comes with everything you need (including the AAA battery).
